Transportation Requirements

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

  • Prior to departure, all animals being transported must have spent a minimum of 14 days in a non-shelter environment, preferably a foster home. This is to ensure that the animal is free of any diseases commonly spread in shelters that could easily be transmitted to other animals during transport.

  • All animals must have an Interstate Health Certificate dated no more than 10 days prior to the transport date. All adopted animals must meet their adopter’s state’s health requirements before being transported.

  • Although we understand that some pets require special medication to stay healthy, we cannot transport any animals still being treated for any communicable diseases such as kennel cough, ringworm, parvo, and distemper. We also cannot transport any animals with known parasites - internal or external - including fleas, ticks, sarcoptic mange, and intestinal worms.

  • All animals must be up to date on vaccinations (based on age) and on flea and tick preventative. All Bordatella vaccinations must follow a 6 month schedule, and all puppies must have received their second DHPPv/DA2PPvs no less than 5 days before departure.

  • All animals must be spayed/neutered at least 4 days prior to departure. No exceptions.

OTHER ANIMAL REQUIREMENTS

  • All animals must be able to be handled safely with minimal accommodations. We cannot transport dogs who pose a risk to transport staff, other animals, or themselves.

  • Animals must be comfortable in a crate. We understand that some animals may not prefer to be crated, however, we are unable to accommodate animals who may show excessive signs of aggression or anxiety when crated as this could pose a threat to handlers and the animals themselves.

  • All animals must wear collars with microchip, identification information, and rabies tag (if old enough) information securely attached.
